Clare graduated from University College Dublin in 2007. She completed her intern year in St. Vincent's University Hospital. Following this, she began her general practice training on the Mid-Leinster Specialist Training Scheme in General Practice. As part of the scheme, Clare completed rotations in Respiratory medicine, Medicine for the Elderly, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Psychiatry and Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery. She also acquired additional training in Infectious Diseases and Ophthalmology. She spent a further 2 years working in general practice and became a member of the Irish College of General Practitioners in 2012. Clare worked in Dublin for 2 years before moving to Ashbourne Family Practice in 2015. She is currently completing a Professional Certificate in Clinical Dermatology through UCD.
